DIY 3 Tiered Herb Planter

Fresh herbs are wonderful, and are much more fragrant that the dried variety, but some of the more exotic varieties can be expensive. Have you ever seen the price of fresh rosemary? But it's not so much about the cost as it is the benefits. Fresh herbs taste good and are good for you.

Take a look at these 2 examples:

Parsley
  • Parsley contains vitamins A and C, and one tablespoon (yes, just one tablespoon), has more than half of the daily recommendation of vitamin K. Why is vitamin K necessary? Vitamin K is essential for healthy blood. It helps blood clot and prevents excessive bleeding.
Cilantro
  • Cilantro clears heavy metals from your body. It attaches itself to metals like lead and mercury and draws them out of your tissues. Wow! How awesome is that! Can't say that I am a big fan of cilantro, but I do use it in my homemade salsa. But after learning about these benefits, I think I'll incorporate it a bit more into my family's diet.

Many herbs are easy to grow and for the price of a pack of seeds, which is around 99 cents, you can have fresh herbs all summer long. Just think! Stimulating peppermint in your iced tea, aromatic dill tossed with your boiled new potatoes, and robust oregano in your Italian dishes. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Every year my family and I harvest our share of herbs from a plot at the community garden in which we participate, but this year I'm thinking about growing some herbs in pots. This 3 tiered herb planter is perfect for that and will make an attractive addition to my patio.

It looks fun and easy to make and sure to get your DIY creative juices flowing inside your green thumb!
